Master program in Cognitive Science

During your study, you will be challenged to figure out, which phenomenon relevant for cognitive science is most interesting to you and which you would hence like to focus on. You are expected to present your profile at the platform meicogsci.eu. Related to this, you will also choose optional and elective courses, in which you can be assisted by the garant, tutor, as well as involved teachers - please do not hesitate to contact them and talk to them. Along with the courses, you will choose the topics for your individual activities:

  • Semester project (2-IKV-122): scheduled for 2nd semester, whose outcome you will present at the MEi:CogSci student conference (in the form of a poster). The semester project may, but does not have, to continue in the extended form within the master thesis. For the project, you can also form pairs and work together on the same topic, e.g. looking at the same phenomenon from two different angles, appropriately sharing the workload. Please discuss the topic with your potential mentor (supervisor) and the tutor.
  • Master thesis (2-IKV-910): according to the curriculum, the student is supposed to intensively work on it during the 4th semester, but the topic and the contents have to be specified earlier (for the registration for the 2nd year). The topic for master thesis may be inspired by the semester project or by the mobility. For the thesis, it is important to incorporate the feature of interdisciplinarity, i.e. looking at the studied phenomenon from the viewpoint of at least two disciplines. You will present the intermediate stages of your work at the master thesis seminar (2-IKV-921) and the final work at the student conference.
  • Mobility: It is obligatory for you to spend one semester (by default, the third) at a foreign university within the consortium. In a short time, you will be provided with information about the partners (what they can offer), to facilitate your choice.
