TERAIS Project – Open Postdoctoral Position

Location:
Department of Applied Informatics, Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia
Position:
Postdoctoral Researcher
Salary gross amount:
from €25.200 to €28.800 per year, depending on experience.
Contract duration:
1 March 2024 until 28 February 2026 (full time, two to three years, upon negotiation)
Project description:
Comenius University Bratislava is looking for excellent postdoctoral researchers to work on a Horizon Europe twinning project: TERAIS - Towards Excellent Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at a Slovak university. For more information about the project and the consortium, see https://terais.eu.
Job description:
The developmental project has a work package dedicated to research. The focus of research at Comenius University Bratislava will be on developing and testing neural network algorithms for a humanoid NICO robot.
Requirements:
PhD or equivalent in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a focus on Robotics, AI and/or Neural Networks, excellent programming skills (e.g. Python, C++, Machine Learning frameworks, etc.). Excellent communication skills in English. Experience in human-robot interaction is a plus.

TRAIL Project – Open Doctoral Position

Contract duration:
1 February 2024 until 31 January 2027 (36 months, full time)
Salary gross amount:
from €28.893 to €33.287 per year, including the living allowance, mobility allowance and the family allowance (if applicable).
Salary level:
in accordance with the attractive EU MSCA Doctoral Network regulations for doctoral candidates (including the country correction factor)
Job description:
Comenius University Bratislava is looking for an excellent doctoral researcher to work on a Horizon Europe MSCA project: TRAIL – TRAnsparent InterpretabLe robots. TRAIL will offer the doctoral students an opportunity to participate in joint scientific research trainings, transferable skills workshops, and international conferences. The focus of research at Comenius University Bratislava will be on developing and testing algorithms to enable understanding (interpreting) trained neural networks embedded in robots (e.g. based on data visualisation, computational analyses). You will work with the CNC research group (prof. Igor Farkaš) and will be co-supervised by a partner university.
Eligibility:
According to EU mobility rules, the doctoral candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Slovakia for longer than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. Candidates who already have a doctoral degree are not eligible. Excellent English communication skills are an important requirement.
Requirements:
MSc or equivalent in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a focus on Robotics, AI and/or Neural Networks is required. Excellent programming skills (e.g. Python, C++, Machine Learning Frameworks, etc.) are required. The post involves substantial traveling within Europe. The successful candidate will be expected to spend secondments at other partner sites and travel to international conferences.
