Getting There
Regardless of the transportation means please check the latest requirements for travellers entering Slovakia, comply with the required registration (eHranica) and the required documents. See:
By Plane
Vienna International Airport (VIE) is very close and it is well connected. It has flights from most destinations in the world.
The airport is well connected to Bratislava via direct bus lines from three companies (Slovak lines, Flixbus, RegioJet). The tickets from each company can be purchased via their website or app. There is also a convenient joint search engine CP.sk where tickets from all three can be purchased. The Bratislava Most SNP stop (downtown, not on each line) is within a walking distance from most hotels. The Bratislava AS stop (the main bus station) is also centrally located but may require a short bus or taxi ride to your hotel. See more in Getting Around.
For special Covid-related countermeasures valid at the airport see their website. For Covid-related requirements when entering Slovakia through Austria see our Covid information page.
Bratislava International Airport (BTS) is a small airport serviced especially by Ryanair, Wizz Air and other low-cost carriers. It is especially well connected with the UK and Ireland.
To get from the airport to downtown one can take bus no. 61 to Hlavná stanica (the main railway station) and then change e.g. to tram no. 1 that goes downtown and passes most hotel locations and the conference venue. It is probably more convenient to take a taxi or a shared ride, but it is not advised to use taxis waiting in front of the airport. See more in Getting Around. Your hotel may also provide a shuttle.
For special Covid-related countermeasures valid at the airport see their website.
By Car
Travelling and getting around Bratislava by car is easy. Bratislava is connected by highway to Austria, Czech Rep., and Hungary. To use Slovak highways a 10-day electronic registration can be obtained via eZnámka. Given the vicinity of the Austrian border it may not be needed if entering via Berg-Petržalka border crossing.
By Train or Bus
Bratislava is well connected on the bus and railway network. One can conveniently book a journey from major european cities using services such as (and others):
Slovak rail · Bahn.de · Eurolines · Flixbus
To get to your hotel from the train or bus station one can use public transport. It may be more convenient to take a taxi or a shared ride but it is not advised to use taxis waiting in front of the station. See more in Getting Around. Your hotel may also provide a shuttle.
By Boat
Bratislava can also be reached by boat from Vienna on the Danube river. Unfortunately due to the epidemic the traffic is reduced but there is at least one connection on September 18. See Twin City Liner. The passenger port is near to the workshop venue.
