Using MinGW for building OOo on MS Windows

(Bachelor thesis specification, back to list of all topics)

OpenOffice.org is one of the largest free and open source projects available. It runs on a number of platforms, including Linux and MS Windows. While on Linux it builds with GNU tools, on Windows it depends on Microsoft compiler farm. There exist proof of concept patches to build OOo (version 1.1.x) with MinGW (Minimalistic GNU for Windows), but they need updating & polishing for OOo version 2.x, so that they could be included in the official OOo; which is also goal of this project.
